This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") outlines the proper and prohibited uses of Jackob.ai services. This policy applies to all users, including free and paid subscribers.
By using Jackob.ai, you agree to comply with this AUP. Violations may result in account suspension, termination, or legal action.
2. Permitted Uses
Jackob.ai is designed for legitimate transcription needs, including:
Business and Professional:
- Meetings, conferences, and presentations
- Interviews and consultations (with proper consent)
- Training sessions and webinars
- Dictation and voice memos
- Customer service calls (with disclosure and consent)
Education and Research:
- Lectures and classroom recordings
- Research interviews (with IRB approval where required)
- Study groups and tutoring sessions
- Academic conferences and seminars
Media and Content Creation:
- Podcasts and video content
- Interviews for journalism or documentaries
- Voiceovers and narration
- Subtitle and caption creation
Personal Use:
- Personal voice notes and journaling
- Family recordings and oral histories
- Language learning and practice
- Accessibility needs
Legal and Compliance:
- Depositions and legal proceedings (where recording is permitted)
- Compliance documentation
- Internal investigations (with proper authorization)
Medical and Healthcare:
- Doctor dictations and clinical notes
- Patient consultations (with consent and HIPAA compliance)
- Medical research interviews
3. Recording Consent Requirements
CRITICAL: You must obtain all legally required consents before recording and uploading any audio or video to Jackob.ai.
Consent Laws Vary by Jurisdiction:
- One-Party Consent: Some jurisdictions allow recording if one party (you) consents
- Two-Party/All-Party Consent: Other jurisdictions require all parties to consent before recording
- International Variations: Laws differ significantly across countries
Your Responsibilities:
- Research and understand the recording laws in your jurisdiction
- Research the laws where the recorded parties are located
- Obtain explicit consent from all required parties before recording
- Inform participants that the conversation is being recorded
- Document consent (written consent is recommended)
- Comply with workplace, institutional, or organizational policies
Examples of Required Consent:
- Phone calls (check state/country laws)
- Video conferences and meetings
- In-person conversations
- Customer service interactions
- Medical consultations
- Legal proceedings (court permission may be required)
Jackob.ai Does NOT:
- Verify that you obtained proper consent
- Provide legal advice on recording laws
- Assume responsibility for your compliance with recording laws
- Accept liability for illegally obtained recordings
4. Prohibited Content
You may NOT upload content that:
Illegal Content:
- Was obtained through illegal recording or wiretapping
- Violates recording consent laws
- Promotes or facilitates illegal activities
- Violates export control or sanctions laws
Harmful Content:
- Contains credible threats of violence or harm
- Promotes terrorism or violent extremism
- Includes hate speech or incitement to violence
- Harasses, bullies, or threatens individuals
Privacy Violations:
- Contains private information of others without consent (doxxing)
- Violates confidentiality agreements or NDAs
- Includes protected health information without authorization
- Contains financial or identity theft information
Intellectual Property Violations:
- Infringes copyrights (movies, music, books, etc.)
- Violates trademarks or patents
- Contains trade secrets without authorization
Malicious Content:
- Contains malware, viruses, or malicious code
- Attempts to exploit system vulnerabilities
- Includes phishing or social engineering attempts
Weapons and Dangerous Materials:
- Content related to designing, developing, or manufacturing weapons
- Instructions for creating explosives or dangerous materials
- Content facilitating violence or terrorism
Sexually Explicit Content:
- Pornographic or sexually explicit material
- Non-consensual intimate content
- Sexual exploitation or abuse content
Children's Safety:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
- Grooming or exploitation of minors
- Content harmful to minors' wellbeing
- Solicitation or inappropriate contact with minors
- Age-inappropriate content targeting minors
Misinformation and Disinformation:
- Deliberately false or misleading information
- Deepfakes or manipulated media presented as authentic
- Content undermining public health or safety
- Coordinated campaigns to spread false information
Democratic Process Manipulation:
- Voter suppression or election interference
- Impersonation of candidates or officials
- Coordinated inauthentic behavior in political campaigns
- Manipulation of electoral processes
Psychologically Harmful Content:
- Content promoting self-harm or suicide
- Eating disorder promotion
- Psychological manipulation or abuse
- Content designed to cause severe emotional distress
Critical Infrastructure:
- Content designed to compromise critical infrastructure
- Attacks on utilities, transportation, or emergency services
- Disruption of essential public services
5. High-Risk Use Cases
Certain use cases pose elevated risks because they directly affect critical decisions about individuals. If you use Jackob.ai transcriptions for these purposes, you must implement additional safeguards.
High-Risk Categories:
- Legal: Legal interpretation, guidance, or decisions with legal implications
- Healthcare: Medical diagnosis, patient care, therapy, mental health, or medical guidance (wellness advice like sleep, stress, nutrition does not fall under this category)
- Finance: Investment advice, loan approvals, creditworthiness determinations, financial eligibility decisions
- Employment: Resume screening, hiring decisions, employability assessments, performance evaluations
- Housing: Lease approvals, home loan decisions, housing eligibility determinations
- Insurance: Health, life, property, disability insurance underwriting, claims processing, coverage decisions
- Education: Admissions decisions, test scoring, academic evaluations, accreditation
- Media/Journalism: Automatically generated content published for external consumption
Required Safeguards:
- Human-in-the-Loop: A qualified professional in the relevant field must review AI-generated transcriptions before making or communicating decisions that directly affect individuals
- AI Disclosure: You must disclose to affected individuals that AI transcription was used in producing advice, recommendations, or decisions. This disclosure must be provided at minimum at the beginning of each session or interaction
- Accuracy Verification: You are responsible for independently verifying transcription accuracy before relying on it for high-stakes decisions
- No Sole Reliance: Do not make critical decisions based solely on automated transcriptions without human review and verification
- Sentiment and Emotion Analysis: Sentiment analysis and emotion detection features must not be used as the sole basis for employment, educational, or other high-stakes decisions without human review and verification
Court and Arbitration Use - Important Limitation:
Jackob.ai transcriptions are NOT certified or professional transcriptions suitable for use as official evidence in legal proceedings, court cases, or arbitration.
- Our transcriptions are AI-generated and have not been reviewed or certified by licensed court reporters or certified transcriptionists
- Many jurisdictions require transcriptions used in legal proceedings to be certified by licensed professionals with specific qualifications and regulatory approval
- We do not provide certification, attestation, or professional sign-off for legal use
- Using our transcriptions as official evidence may not be accepted by courts or arbitration panels
- For legal proceedings, depositions, court cases, or arbitration, you must engage a licensed court reporter or certified transcription service approved in your jurisdiction
Your Responsibility:
You are solely responsible for the accuracy and appropriateness of transcriptions used in high-risk contexts. Jackob.ai provides transcription technology as a tool, not professional advice or decision-making services. You or your organization must ensure compliance with all applicable professional standards, regulations, and ethical guidelines in your field.
6. AI Disclosure Requirements
Consumer-Facing Applications:
If you use Jackob.ai transcriptions in any consumer-facing application, chatbot, or interactive service, you must disclose to end-users that AI technology is being used. This applies to:
- Chatbots or virtual assistants that use transcribed content
- Customer service applications incorporating transcriptions
- Any automated system that presents transcribed content to consumers
- Products or services where transcriptions influence user-facing outputs
Disclosure Requirements:
- Disclosure must be clear, prominent, and easy to understand
- Must be provided at minimum at the beginning of each session or interaction
- Should inform users they are interacting with or receiving content from AI-assisted technology
- Cannot be hidden in fine print or buried in terms of service
Example Disclosure:
"This service uses AI-powered transcription technology. While we strive for accuracy, automated transcriptions may contain errors. Please verify important information."
7. Prohibited Activities
System Abuse:
- Attempting to reverse engineer, decompile, or hack our services
- Circumventing usage limits or restrictions
- Using automated tools to abuse the service
- Overloading or disrupting our infrastructure
- Attempting unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data
Commercial Misuse:
- Reselling or redistributing our services without authorization
- Using the service to compete with Jackob.ai
- Scraping or harvesting data from our platform
- Creating derivative services based on our technology
Account Misuse:
- Creating multiple accounts to circumvent limits
- Sharing accounts or credentials with others
- Impersonating others or misrepresenting your identity
- Providing false information during registration
Fraudulent Activities:
- Using stolen payment methods
- Chargebacks or payment disputes in bad faith
- Manipulating billing or usage metrics
- Engaging in money laundering or financial fraud
8. Compliance Requirements
Legal Compliance:
- Comply with all applicable local, state, federal, and international laws
- Follow recording consent laws in all relevant jurisdictions
- Respect data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
- Adhere to industry-specific regulations (HIPAA, FERPA, etc.)
Organizational Policies:
- Follow your employer's or organization's policies on recording
- Obtain necessary approvals for business use
- Comply with confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements
- Respect workplace privacy policies
Ethical Standards:
- Use the service in good faith for legitimate purposes
- Respect the privacy and dignity of recorded individuals
- Be transparent about recording when ethically required
- Consider the potential impact of transcriptions on others
9. Data Handling Responsibilities
Sensitive Information:
- Exercise caution when uploading files containing sensitive data
- Ensure you have authorization to process personal information
- Comply with data protection laws when handling others' data
- Use appropriate security measures for sensitive transcriptions
Confidential Information:
- Do not upload content that violates confidentiality obligations
- Respect attorney-client privilege and similar protections
- Obtain necessary clearances for classified or proprietary information
Third-Party Rights:
- Respect intellectual property rights of speakers and content owners
- Do not transcribe copyrighted material without permission
- Honor privacy rights and publicity rights of individuals
10. Quality and Accuracy
File Quality:
- Upload files with clear audio and minimal background noise
- Use supported file formats (MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, FLAC, MP4, MOV, AVI)
- Ensure files are not corrupted or damaged
Accuracy Expectations:
- Understand that AI transcription is not 100% accurate
- Review and verify transcriptions for critical use cases
- Do not rely solely on automated transcriptions for legal, medical, or safety-critical applications
11. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of violations of this AUP, please report them:
- Email: privacy@jackob.ai
- Include: Description of violation, relevant URLs or account information, and any supporting evidence
- Confidentiality: We treat reports confidentially and investigate promptly
We appreciate your help in maintaining a safe and legal platform.
12. Enforcement and Consequences
Investigation:
- We investigate reported violations and suspicious activity
- We may review account usage patterns and uploaded content
- We cooperate with law enforcement when legally required
Enforcement Actions:
Violations may result in:
- Warning: First-time minor violations may receive a warning
- Temporary Suspension: Account access temporarily restricted
- Permanent Termination: Account permanently closed without refund
- Content Removal: Violating content deleted immediately
- Legal Action: Referral to law enforcement or civil litigation
- Financial Liability: You remain liable for damages caused by violations
No Refunds for Violations:
Accounts terminated for AUP violations are not eligible for refunds of any kind.
13. Cooperation with Law Enforcement
We cooperate with law enforcement and regulatory authorities:
- We respond to valid legal requests for user information
- We report illegal content as required by law (e.g., CSAM)
- We preserve evidence when legally obligated
- We may proactively report serious violations to authorities
Your use of Jackob.ai does not create any expectation of privacy regarding illegal activities.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this AUP to address new use cases, legal requirements, or abuse patterns. We will notify you of material changes through:
- Email notification
- Website announcements
- In-app notifications
Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
