Jackob MCP — use your AI assistant with your recordings
Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity or your coding tools to Jackob and ask questions about your transcriptions in plain language.
Jackob MCP lets an AI assistant you already use read the transcriptions in your Jackob account — securely, read-only, and only after you approve it. You keep working in the assistant you like; Jackob provides the facts from your recordings.
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard supported by most major AI assistants. Jackob follows it, so any compatible client can connect with the same address.
What you can ask
- "Find where we discussed the Q3 budget in last week's meetings."
- "Summarize yesterday's call with the supplier in five bullets."
- "Pull all action items assigned to Dana from the last three meetings."
- "Quote exactly what the client said about the deadline, with the timestamp."
- "Which recordings mention the new pricing? List them with dates."
How to connect
Every client uses the same server address. Add it once, sign in with your Jackob account, approve the connection, and start asking.

}What the assistant can see
The connection is read-only and limited to your own account. The assistant can use five tools:
- List transcriptions
- Your completed transcriptions with name, date, duration, language and speakers. It can filter by project, language, date or a search word.
- Search transcripts
- Finds where something was said and returns short timestamped snippets with the speaker.
- Transcript details
- Details of one transcription — speakers, number of segments, whether timestamps exist — without the text.
- Transcript text
- The timestamped text of one transcription, in pages, optionally limited to a time window.
- Jackob Summary
- The Jackob Summary (AI summary) you already generated for a transcription (overview, key points, action items, chapters). It never creates a new summary.
The assistant cannot upload recordings, edit or delete anything, see your billing or account settings, or see any other user's data. Every result includes a link back to the transcription in Jackob so you can check the source.
Before you connect
Your transcript content leaves Jackob
When you ask a question, the assistant requests the relevant transcript text from Jackob and we send it to the assistant's provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, Perplexity, …). From that moment the text is handled under that provider's privacy policy and terms — including how long they keep it and whether they use it to improve their models. Jackob cannot control this. Please review your provider's policy, and only connect assistants you trust with the content of your recordings.
You will see this notice again on the consent screen every time you connect, and you can cancel there.
Treat answers as a starting point
- AI assistants can misquote, mix up speakers or invent details. Verify important facts against the linked transcription before acting on them.
- Transcript text is spoken conversation. If a recording contains instructions (for example, someone reading an email aloud), the assistant should treat them as content, not commands — but no assistant is perfect. Do not connect Jackob in the same chat where the assistant has tools that can send messages or spend money on your behalf.
Disconnecting
- Open Settings → Connected apps in Jackob to see every connected assistant — when and from which browser it was approved, and when it was last used — and disconnect one or all of them. Access stops immediately.
- You can also remove the Jackob connector or app in the assistant's own settings; its access then ends when the current token expires (within one hour).
- Connections expire on their own when unused. A connection stays active as long as the assistant keeps using it. If it is not used for 30 days it expires automatically, disappears from your Connected apps, and the assistant will ask you to connect again the next time you use it. Connections idle for two weeks are marked "Inactive" in Settings so you can see which ones are about to lapse.
- Deleting your Jackob account revokes every connection at once.
Troubleshooting
- The consent screen appears every time I connect. That is intended — we always show which Jackob account is being connected.
- Wrong account. On the consent screen choose Not you? Switch account and sign in with the right one.
- "Sign in to Jackob.ai again and retry". Your Jackob session ended while you were signing in. Sign in at jackob.ai in the same browser and connect again from the assistant.
- ChatGPT will not create an app with a name I used before. ChatGPT keeps deleted app names; choose a new name.
- The assistant cannot find a recording. Only completed transcriptions are visible; try a word from the file name or the spoken text.
